Job summary

Snowflake is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to own Snowsight's web performance strategy and tooling. You will lead a team responsible for performance budgets, monitoring, and optimization across data-heavy views and large React codebases.

You will partner with platform and product teams to design scalable performance architectures, drive performance improvements, and mentor engineers to elevate frontend quality.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in web applications.
• Expert-level JavaScript/TypeScript and React knowledge with performance debugging.
• Strong understanding of browser performance fundamentals (rendering path, layout, paint).
• Experience designing and operating RUM and synthetic performance monitoring at scale.
• Deep knowledge of build tooling and delivery optimization (Webpack/Vite/Bazel, code splitting).
• Experience with large dataset rendering and virtualization techniques.
• Strong communication and ability to influence across teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work on-site at Bellevue, WA or Menlo Park, CA.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the web performance strategy for Snowsight and related apps.
• Build and maintain performance infrastructure, dashboards, and CI pipelines.
• Identify and fix systemic performance bottlenecks across the app lifecycle.
• Optimize build and delivery, including bundle size and caching strategies.
• Establish performance budgets and guardrails in CI/CD.
• Collaborate with product teams on performance-aware architectures.
• Mentor engineers on performance best practices across the org.
• Represent Snowflake's frontend performance in cross-org decisions.
