Job summary

Snowflake is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own frontend performance for Snowsight, a large analytics UI in Bellevue or Menlo Park. You will define strategy, build tooling, and drive a culture where performance is a baseline, not an afterthought.

You will partner with platform and product teams, mentor engineers, and implement performance monitoring at scale while shaping architectural decisions that improve data-heavy rendering and user experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale web apps.
• Expert-level JavaScript/TypeScript and React knowledge.
• Strong browser performance fundamentals and diagnosing performance issues.
• Experience designing and operating RUM and synthetic performance monitoring at scale.
• Experience with observability tooling and performance dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the web performance strategy for Snowsight, grounded in real user metrics.
• Build and maintain performance infrastructure: monitoring pipelines, CI regression, dashboards, alerting.
• Identify and fix systemic performance bottlenecks across the app lifecycle (loading, rendering, data fetch).
• Optimize build/delivery: bundle size, code splitting, caching, CDN behaviors.
• Establish performance budgets and CI/CD guardrails to catch regressions.
• Mentor engineers on performance best practices and cross-team guidance.
• Represent Snowflake's frontend performance perspective in cross-org decisions.
