Job summary

BackerKit is seeking a Staff-level engineer to own frontend UX within a Ruby on Rails monolith. You’ll code, review, and ship features, mentor others, and partner with product and design to craft intuitive experiences for creators and backers.

You will work in a remote-first team, align with 9-5 Pacific hours, and help shape frontend patterns, while balancing speed and quality in a fast-moving crowdfunding platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development on multiple complex projects.
• 5+ years in staff-level or senior engineering roles.
• Strong frontend UX, React-free patterns, and Rails familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Build, review, and ship features in the Rails monolith.
• Lead frontend architecture and evolve patterns.
• Co-own features end-to-end with product/design.
• Improve usability, performance, and responsiveness.
• Mentor engineers and uphold code quality (incl. AI-generated code).
• Collaborate with Director, engineering leadership, and CEO on priorities.
• Participate in rotations, on-call, and maintain work-life balance.
