Job summary

Fine Tune Expense Management seeks a Senior/Staff Design Engineer to design and build the front end of our products using Rails with Hotwire, Stimulus, Tailwind, and DaisyUI.

You will own the design system in code, shape product direction with the team, and review front-end work for accessibility and usability. This is a full-time, remote role in the United States, focused on delivering robust, data-dense interfaces for enterprise users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and shipping production front-end code.
• Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; debugging in the browser.
• Server-rendered web app: writing view code, with Rails as a plus.
• Experience building or owning a design system in code.
• A portfolio showing both design and code work.
• Experience leading discovery and research with product management.
• Deep working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Proficient with Figma; prototyping in code and with AI-assisted tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and build features end to end in Rails with Hotwire, Stimulus, Tailwind, and DaisyUI, from sketch to production.
• Own your code through release with tests, accessibility, and performance.
• Maintain the design system as code with tokens and theming.
• Prototype in code when faster than mockups.
• Use JavaScript only where it earns its keep.
• Build interfaces that handle large data volumes and long-running jobs.
• Shape design decisions for AI-powered features and correction.
