OTSI(Object Technology Solutions, Inc) has an immediate opening for a Staff Engineering Technician
MAJORRESPONSIBILITES
- This opportunity with clientoffers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams withinthe Government & Communities Market Sector, supporting Water &Industrial Water projects and building critical infrastructure for today’s and tomorrow’schallenges. Civil professionals contribute to site development efforts,including grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, andunderground utilities.
- The Virtual Design & DataSolutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician plays a key role in supportingthe development of high quality engineering deliverables for these complexinfrastructure projects. Under general supervision, this position performs technicaltasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices,with a focus on creating and modifying site development plans using industrystandard design tools, such as Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.
- Functions in a projectengineering technician capacity.
- Under general direction,supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technicaldeliverables.
- Applies foundationalengineering principles and established design practices to create moderatelycomplex design concepts and solutions.
- Utilizes digital tools anddesign software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintaintechnical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
- Provides technical guidance andmay offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians toensure quality and consistency across project outputs.
- Applies knowledge of standards,systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and CLIENTpolicies and procedures.
- May review project requirementsand accurately determine the correct format and contents of the requireddeliverables.
- Proactively applies CLIENTQuality Program to deliverables. Demonstrates personal accuracy and supportscontinuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Reviews design inputs in orderto ensure consistency. Assists to ensure deliverables are in compliance withthe specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
- May apply basic engineeringprinciples and established design practices in developing moderately complexdesign concepts and deliverables. Begins to apply judgment and make decisionswith respect to deliverables and input interpretation.
QUALIFICATIONSAND EXPERIENCE
- Typically a minimum of 5 yearsrelated work experience.
- Capable of handling difficulttechnical assignments within an area of expertise and can provide technicalguidance to other professionals.
- Performs design calculations,detailed material quantities and estimates, and records.
- May review the deliverables ofothers.
- May define work assignments andmaintain schedules.
- May program control systems orparticipate in other plant start-up activities associated with a specializedarea of expertise.
- Coordinates with other designgroup personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for designdevelopment.
- May support field activities.Focuses on the needs of internal clients while utilizing an understanding ofexternal client's main interests and drivers.
- Proactively seeks and sharesknowledge of latest technologies and processes .
- May apply judgment and makesdecisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.
Preferred
- Diplomaor Certificate required. Associate Degree in Drafting or an EngineeringDesign Related Technology preferred.
