Job description

Staff Engineer Systems Architect

Location: Melbourne, Florida.
Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance required: Yes. Clearance type: Secret. Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.

Collaborate with senior architects to design solutions for USAF Open Architecture development. The role demands adaptability, innovative thinking, and comfort with ambiguity, as it supports a new program with evolving requirements. Candidates must understand and apply traditional systems engineering concepts in an agile, accelerated environment, be comfortable with multitasking and verbal presentations, and document assumptions as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to create conceptual data models and data flows.
  • Design, develop, and document systems that contain logical solutions using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Review modifications of existing systems for cross‑compatibility.
  • Implement data strategies and develop physical data models.
  • Coach team members on developing the requirements, architecture, design, and implementation in the model.
  • Perform Systems Requirements analysis and manage requirements, including decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 12 years of related professional/military experience, or Master of Science in a STEM discipline with 10 years of related experience, or STEM Ph.D. with 8 years of related professional/military experience.
  • Experience developing model‑based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering.
  • Experience modeling software systems and systems of systems.
  • Experience with Systems engineering tools (e.g., Cameo Suite) and Agile framework.
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Modeling and Simulation.
  • Applied knowledge of aircraft design.
  • Experience in the military aerospace development environment.
  • Experience integrating complex systems across multiple domains.
  • Experience demonstrating concepts to management and customers.
  • Experience with Cameo large‑scale Vehicle development.
  • Experience developing various DODAF view artifacts, especially Operational and functional viewpoints, using MBSE tools like CAMEO.
Salary Range

Primary level salary range: $152,900.00 – $229,300.00. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and Long Term Incentives for higher‑level positions.
