Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Systems Engineer/Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located on‑site in Melbourne, Florida.

The candidate will help maintain the engineering model, developing structure and behavior diagrams that describe the system architecture and design. They collaborate with other IPTs to obtain the information and data needed in the model. The candidate should have experience in developing Cameo models and utilizing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.

We are looking for innovative thinkers who thrive in a fast‑paced environment and are comfortable with multi‑tasking, prioritizing tasks, giving verbal presentations, and self‑educating without direct supervision.

The candidate must have a firm understanding of traditional systems engineering concepts and methodologies and must be able to apply and adjust these concepts and methodologies to an accelerated process in the early stages of the engineering design. The candidate must be familiar with MBSE, be able to work within an agile environment, and have the ability to work in a fast‑paced multi‑tasking environment.

Essential Functions
  • Work with the cross‑functional teams to create conceptual data models and data flows
  • Design, develop, and document systems that contain logical solutions using MBSE
  • Review modifications of existing systems for cross‑compatibility
  • Implement data strategies and develop physical data models
  • Coach team members on developing the requirements, architecture, design, and implementation in the model
  • Perform Systems Requirements analysis
  • Manage requirements, including decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of relevant experience
  • Experience developing model‑based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering
  • Experience modeling software systems and software system of systems
  • Experience with systems engineering tools (i.e., Cameo Suite) and Agile framework
  • Must have experience with RNP and RNAV navigation specifications
  • Able to obtain and maintain DoD Top‑Secret clearance (Interim required to start)

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with modeling and simulation
  • Applied knowledge of aircraft design
  • Experience in the military aerospace development environment is preferred
  • Experience in integrating complex system across multiple domains
  • Experience demonstrating concepts to management and customers
  • Experience with Cameo Magic Draw or another MBSE tool such as Rhapsody, Sparx EA, and Enterprise Architect
  • Experienced developing various DODAF view artifacts, especially Operational and functional viewpoints, using MBSE tools like CAMEO

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 – $229,300.00.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
