Job summary

Discord is seeking a Staff Engineer for the Safety Experience team to drive high-impact safety features at scale and ensure regulatory compliance. You will design, build, and deploy production APIs, data pipelines, and backend services while mentoring the team and shaping technical direction.

You’ll collaborate with Product, Policy, Data Science, ML, Legal, and Trust & Safety Ops to deliver systems that protect hundreds of millions of users. This is a hands-on leadership role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong backend API experience (Flask, Django).
• Strong frontend skills (JavaScript, React, TypeScript).
• Experience in Safety/Anti-Abuse.
• Ability to own projects end-to-end.
• Independent technical decision-making.
• Experience with metrics dashboards.
• Mentor teammates and set best practices.
• Experience using AI tools to enhance development.
