Job summary

Discord is seeking a Staff Engineer on the Safety Experience team to lead high-impact, user-facing safety features and to design, build, and deploy robust production APIs, backend services, and data pipelines at scale.

You will own large multi-milestone projects end-to-end, mentor teammates, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with Product, Design, Policy, Data Science, ML, Legal, and Trust & Safety Operations to protect hundreds of millions of users.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong backend with Python and Flask/Django.
• Strong frontend with JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.
• Experience in Safety or Anti-Abuse at scale.
• Proven track record owning large projects end-to-end.
• Ability to mentor teams and drive best practices.
• Experience using data and monitoring dashboards.
