Job summary

Obsidian Security in the US is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own features and system architecture across the platform. This generalist role spans backend services, data flows, APIs, product features, integrations, and production systems, guiding technical direction for multiple teams.

You'll build scalable systems to help customers understand activity, risk, and threats in their SaaS environments, turning ambiguous needs into architecture and delivering working software with strong

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in a software engineering role.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Go, TypeScript, or SQL.
• Experience designing and building backend services, APIs, or production features at scale.
• Deep understanding of Postgres and relational databases.
• Experience with AWS or GCP and cost/reliability tradeoffs.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kafka/Redis or similar tech.
• Strong system design and cross-team leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication in reviews and planning.

Responsibilities

• Own features and system architecture across multiple teams or the platform.
• Design and build backend services, APIs, data processing workflows, integrations, and product capabilities.
• Set technical direction and architectural standards for engineers.
• Collaborate with product, design, security, and engineering teams to ship software.
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability, and observability of systems.
• Lead code reviews, mentoring, and documentation to raise engineering standards.
• Debug production issues and drive durable fixes.
• Leverage AI tools while maintaining security and correctness.
