Job summary

Western Digital in Honolulu, Hawaii seeks an electrical/computer science graduate with 1–2 years in reliability or memory design to join the memory systems team. You will analyze system specs, perform NAND flash storage analysis and verification from product definition through release, and contribute to product planning.

You will work with factory teams on SSD build coordination and mechanical tests, and you will mentor junior engineers while ensuring reliability and quality across modules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Science with 1–2 years in reliability or memory design/system engineering.
  • Experience in memory design/characterization is preferred.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor physics and computer architecture is a plus.
  • Knowledge of factory operations and Agile methodology is a plus.
  • Familiarity with storage interfaces such as SD, USB, SATA and PCIe is a plus.
  • Experience in SSD reliability and testing is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Understand system specifications and memory requirements.
  • Perform NAND flash storage based analysis and verification from product definition and planning through production and release.
  • Understand NAND flash system level behavior characterizations.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with memory, firmware and product line teams.
  • Provide feedback on new system features for next generation memory developments.
  • Coordinate with Factory teams on SSD drive builds and mechanical tests.
  • Handle RCA, 8D, and process improvements.
  • Ensure manufacturing operations and product/test engineering flow meet reliability and quality specs.
  • Mentor junior engineers in the team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Understanding system specifications and memory requirements
  • Perform NAND flash storage based analysis and verification from product definition and planning through production and release
  • Understanding on NAND flash system level behavior characterizations
  • Participates in cross functional meetings such as with memory, firmware and product line teams to develop flash storage products
  • Knowledge on the PLC process of a product
  • Provides feedbacks on new system features for next generation memory developments
  • Should be working with Factory teams, in co-ordinating on the items like SSD drive build, Mechanical tests, etc.
  • Will be handling RCA, 8D, process improvements
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations and product/test engineering flow
  • Making sure product is meeting the reliability and quality spec.
  • Mentoring junior engineers in the team
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor/Masters degree from Electrical/Electronics/Computer science preferred with 1-2 years of experience in Reliability/Memory design/system engineering
  • Experience in memory design/characterization
