Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions seeks a Staff Engineer to lead product development for power connectors and cable assemblies. You will guide cross-functional teams, drive design reviews, and champion robust, cost-efficient solutions across the product lifecycle.

The role requires a strong mechanical/electro-mechanical background, proficiency in Creo and FEA, and a demonstrated ability to mentor engineers. Domestic/international travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of mechanical design and product development experience in electrical components or cable assemblies.
• Strong expertise in power connector design, contacts, sealing, and cable interface design.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews and ensure cross-functional alignment with customer expectations.
• Drive cost reduction through design optimization, material choices, and manufacturing improvements.
• Mentor engineering talent and lead technical training across the product development lifecycle.
• Design and optimize power connectors, contact systems, and cable assemblies from concept through production.
• Translate VOC into engineering specs through collaboration with customers and internal teams.
• Perform feasibility studies, mechanical/thermal simulations, and DFMEA; validate through prototypes and testing.
• Ensure designs meet electrical, mechanical, environmental, and regulatory requirements; support manufacturing and quality teams.
