Job summary

UL Solutions in Brea, CA is seeking a seasoned Compliance Engineer for a hybrid role. You will lead harmonized standards work, deliver technical training to customers, and manage project scope, cost, and testing requirements with client input.

You will coordinate laboratory activities, review test data, communicate status to clients, support sales, and guide junior staff while upholding UL requirements across multiple IEC/ISO standards.

Qualifications

• University degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of Compliance Engineering experience as Evaluator and Reviewer in IEC 60601-series standards.
• Experience as Evaluator and Reviewer in 60601-series standards and ISO 80601-series standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
• Hands-on laboratory experience and teamwork ability.

Responsibilities

• Represents UL on harmonized standards development committees.
• Delivers technical training content to customers or at public events.
• Independently determines project scope, develops a preliminary plan of investigation, and determines project specifications by analyzing client input, available data, and product construction.
• Initiates communication with clients to promote and explain UL services, discusses project cost, timelines and sampling requirements.
• Establishes appropriate test programs by reviewing files, examining samples, and applying UL requirements.
• Coordinates laboratory activities, schedules staff, and reviews work; may conduct testing.
• Communicates project status and results to clients through reports.
• Prepares Follow-Up Service Procedures and information pages.
• Integrates continuous improvement concepts into all aspects of the job.
• Resolves engineering issues related to Variation Notices and UL requirements.
• Assists in developing UL requirements and test methods; may coordinate File Reviews and represent UL at industry events.
• Provide complex sales support such as presentations during client visits.
• Directs and reviews staff work; trains personnel and provides technical assistance across product categories.
