Job summary

Magnite seeks a Staff Java Engineer to join the DV+ Platform Team in Los Angeles, CA or hybrid with Broomfield, CO. You will design and implement microservices powering customer-facing and internal APIs, and lead full lifecycle from inception to deployment.

You will work with stakeholders, own technical specs, and drive scalable solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Docker, and AWS. Strong problem solving and leadership are required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of production server-side Java experience.
• Expertise in SOA, microservices, and scalable web services.
• Experience with Spring Boot and Docker.
• AWS experience (EC2, ECS).
• Strong SQL/Relational DB and NoSQL skills (MySQL, Postgres, Redis, MongoDB).
• Messaging systems: RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• CI/CD & tools: Maven, Git, Jenkins, Jira.
• Testing: TDD/Unit/Integration tests.
• JavaScript/React knowledge is a plus.

Staff Java Engineer – Los Angeles, CA / Broomfield, CO (Hybrid)

Job Overview

This role involves designing and implementing microservices that power our customer‑facing and internal APIs, including onboarding, customer configurations, ad serving, and reporting. You will work closely with business stakeholders, lead technical specifications, and drive the full software development lifecycle from inception to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of software projects from inception to deployment.
• Be a creative problem solver, designing reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions to challenging problems.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to deliver appropriate results.
• Lead technical specification, development, integration, testing, and release of software components.
• Identify and address technical challenges, optimize code for performance, and participate in ongoing code refactoring.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 6+ Years of production coding experience, preferably in server‑side Java.
• Expertise in service‑oriented architectures, microservices, advanced database schemas, and scalable web services.
• Hands‑on experience building RESTful Web Services using Spring Boot and Docker.
• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., EC2, ECS, or cloud deployment workflows).
• Strong database proficiency: relational databases (SQL, Hibernate, MySQL, Oracle, Postgres) and NoSQL solutions (Redis, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Proficiency with modern CI/CD and development tools, including Maven, Git, Jenkins, Puppet, and Jira.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (TDD, Mocking, Unit/Functional/Integration).
• Familiarity with additional programming/scripting languages; experience with JavaScript and React component libraries (Ant Design, Material UI, React Bootstrap) is a plus.
• Experience leveraging AI‑assisted development tools and integrating advanced AI workflows or Model Context Protocol (MCP) to accelerate delivery is an asset.
• Strong ability to context‑shift and effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
• Bonus: experience managing direct reports or leading teams.

Compensation & Benefits

• In CA: $170,000 – $180,000 base salary. In CO: $155,000 – $165,000 base salary.
• Annual performance‑based bonus.
