Overview

Location: Broomfield, CO; Hybrid Schedule (Mon/Fri remote; Tue/Wed/Thu in-office). West Coast – Remote. Los Angeles, CA. This role reports to the Reporting & Insights team within Magnite.

Magnite is the world’s largest independent sell-side advertising platform. We provide technology to monetize content across CTV/streaming, online video, display, and audio, powering billions of transactions per day.

In This Role You Will

• Participate in the design, development, testing, and release of APIs that power reporting and analytics applications.
• Collaborate daily with Product, UI, and Data engineers to take features from requirements to delivery.
• Design and build APIs that are intuitive and easy to consume: clear contracts (OpenAPI), well-documented APIs, versioning strategies, pagination, filtering, batching, and strong SLAs/SLOs.
• Champion code quality: well-tested, observable, maintainable code; thoughtful reviews; design docs; and pragmatic documentation.
• Own services in production: dashboards, alerting, capacity and load testing, cost-aware design, and reliability improvements.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools in your development process.

We’re Looking For Someone With

• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Primary development experience in modern (latest JVM version) Java for high-throughput, low-latency back-end web services.
• Hands-on experience with Postgres (or other RDBMS): modeling, migrations, indexing, and query optimization.
• Proficiency with Git/GitHub and modern team practices (reviews, trunk/branch strategies, code ownership).
• Clear, empathetic communication and a collaborative mindset.

Nice To Have

• Exposure to cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with asynchronous programming patterns, high levels of concurrency, and with frameworks such as Vert.x and Dropwizard.
• Experience with event-driven or streaming architectures.
• Understanding of authN/Z patterns (OAuth2/JWT), rate limiting, and API security.
• Observability tools and practices (metrics, tracing, logs) and load/perf testing.
• Knowledge of Real-Time Bidding (RTB), SSPs, DSPs, and ad delivery systems is a strong plus.

Compensation

In CA, the base salary range is $125,000 – $135,000. In CO, the base salary range is $115,000 – $125,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, experience, skills, and internal equity. During the interview process, candidates will receive more specific information about the salary range applicable to their experience and location.
