Job summary

HRG is seeking a Staff Engineer II for Water & Wastewater in Allentown, PA. You will work with experienced engineers on planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater systems, gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative consulting environment.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of relevant experience, a civil/environmental engineering degree, and familiarity with PA DEP regulations. Travel to job sites and offices may be required, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and professional

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
• Approximately 2+ years of consulting or relevant engineering experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification preferred.
• Experience with water/wastewater systems and PA DEP familiarity appreciated.

Responsibilities

• Support design of water treatment, storage, and distribution systems and wastewater facilities.
• Prepare calculations, reports, drawings, and permit applications.
• Assist with hydraulic analysis and system modeling using industry software.
• Participate in field work, site visits, inspections, and data collection.
• Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects.
• Attend client meetings to support coordination and relationships.
• Assist with construction phase services including cost estimates and submittal reviews.

We are actively seeking aStaff Engineer II | Water & Wastewater to join our team in our Allentown, PA office and help deliver meaningful infrastructure projects that serve communities. As aStaff Engineer II withHRG, you will work alongside experienced engineers on the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater systems, gaining hands‑on experience while building your technical and professional skills. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career engineer looking to grow in a collaborative and supportive consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the planning and design of water treatment, storage, and distribution systems, as well as wastewater collection and treatment facilities
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, and permit applications for municipal and utility clients
• Assist with hydraulic analysis and system modeling using industry-standard engineering software
• Participate in field work, site visits, inspections, and data collection to support project development
• Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects
• Attend and participate in client meetings to support project coordination, communication, and relationship building
• Assist with construction phase services, including cost estimates, submittal reviews, and coordination with contractors and agncies

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, or a related discipline
• Approximately 2+ years of consulting or relevant engineering experience, including water distribution and treatment systems, wastewater, collection, conveyance and treatment systems processes, hydraulics, environmental assessments
• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification preferred
• Academic or professional experience related to water and wastewater systems
• Familiarity with PA DEP regulations, AutoCAD and common engineering or modeling software preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
• Effective utilization of common business platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, virtual meeting tools, project management systems, etc.
• Flexibility to travel to job sites, meetings, and other offices as necessary, which may include overnight stays
• Valid US Driver’s License is required
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
