Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a Staff Engineer II to provide expertise in operating, supporting, and improving IT tools and services to ensure reliability, security, and compliance across environments.

You’ll lead incident response, break/fix efforts, service restoration, and knowledge sharing across teams, while mentoring IT Operations staff and coordinating with engineering, observability, and security to strengthen operational readiness. A Bachelor's degree is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related experience in IT App Support, IT Development, IT Networking, or similar field.
• Bachelor's degree in related field required.
• Previous leadership experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
• Advanced proven experience leading operational support teams through incident response, break/fix troubleshooting, production escalations, service restoration, and recurring issue remediation.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert operational support for production environments including break/fix and service restoration.
• Lead escalations and coordinate incident response and outage resolutions across shifts.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures in line with IT policies.
• Coach analysts and engineers on troubleshooting, ticket hygiene, and escalation standards.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify recurring issues and reduce alert noise.
• Prepare operational updates and post-incident reports detailing risk and remediation actions.
