Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Staff Engineer - Guidance Navigation Controls to advance avionics, guidance, and control systems for air vehicles. You will develop flight control algorithms, implement software, and run simulations across ground and flight environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline with 12 years of related experience or Master’s with 10 years or PhD with 8 years.
• Experience with fixed-wing flight dynamics and linear/nonlinear dynamics analysis.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and related autopilot/software development.
• Current, active US government Secret clearance or higher with SAP eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Develop flight control algorithms for air vehicles (manned/unmanned).
• Design and implement guidance, navigation, and control software and simulations.
• Create outer/inner loop control laws and autonomy logic.
• Build and integrate models into hardware-in-the-loop environments.
• Support flight tests and analyze flight test data.
• Contribute to design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.).
