Job summary

SingleStore is seeking a Staff Engineer to provide technical leadership for Flow’s end-to-end data path, from source systems and CDC through migration engines, APIs, and Helios. This hands-on IC role demands architectural influence and durable, reliable software.

You will work across product and customer-facing teams, balance performance and maintainability, and mentor engineers while advancing AI-assisted development to improve migrations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of building and operating production software.
• Expert-level Java debugging of enterprise-grade codebases.
• Strong knowledge of databases and data-intensive systems.
• Experience with JDBC and SQL metadata, types, and schema information.
• Cloud-native services and Kubernetes experience.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for Flow's major areas including migration engines and CDC pipelines.
• Lead the design and delivery of large, complex, release-defining projects.
• Make pragmatic architecture decisions balancing value, reliability, and performance.
• Design and implement production-quality software while staying hands-on.
• Improve observability, testing, and operational readiness.
• Mentor engineers and lead code reviews.
• Create technical documentation for architecture, APIs, and customer journeys.
• Advance AI-native development and agentic capabilities.
