Andreessen Horowitz in San Francisco is hiring a Staff Engineer to own enterprise security: insider risk, data protection, SaaS security, and the secure adoption of AI. This program-ownership role sets strategy, selects tooling, writes policies with IT, and sees them through to working controls.

The role protects highly sensitive deal data and portfolio information, working with the Head of Cybersecurity and IT, Legal, and Compliance to enable safe AI use and robust guardrails.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in security engineering or enterprise security roles.
• Deep expertise in IAM, authentication/authorization, DLP, and insider risk tooling.
• Experience owning security programs end to end (DLP, insider risk, SaaS security).
• Hands-on security of AI tools and agentic systems in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with Google Workspace, Okta, MDM, SSPM, and cloud-native environments.

Responsibilities

• Own insider risk and data protection program end to end.
• Drive secure AI adoption across the firm and define governance.
• Own SaaS security posture across vendors and SSPM monitoring.
• Set authentication/authorization policy with IT, including Okta and MFA.
• Manage EDR across macOS, Windows, and iOS; collaborate on MDM policies.
• Oversee joiner/mover/leaver lifecycle including access revocation.
• Run vendor security due diligence process with consistency and speed.
• Monitor, investigate, and respond to data exfiltration and insider risk events.
• Participate in the Security team's on-call rotation.
