Job summary

Lance is seeking a flexible, high-ownership engineer for our Members of Technical Staff role in San Francisco. You will own hard problems end-to-end, designing systems that span product, AI, infrastructure, and the physical world.

You may work across frontend, backend, data, and hardware, building AI agents that operate reliably in the real world and shipping products used by engineers and hotel staff alike.

Qualifications

• Exceptional engineer with strong technical fundamentals.
• Ability to work across product, AI, infrastructure, and data.
• Built complex systems from scratch.
• Comfortable operating with little structure.
• Strong focus on reliability and product quality.
• Willing to own outcomes rather than tickets.

Responsibilities

• Build and own major products and technical systems from 0 → 1.
• Develop AI agents that can reason, take actions, and operate in the real world.
• Work across frontend, backend, infrastructure, models, data, and integrations.
• Build agent harnesses, evals, context systems, and learning loops.
• Design systems that coordinate humans and AI agents.
• Integrate with legacy hotel systems and turn messy real-world workflows into reliable software.
• Prototype new interfaces across voice, mobile, desktop, and hardware.
• Deploy directly into hotels and learn from how the systems behave in production.
• Debug problems across the entire stack.
• Make foundational technical decisions that shape the future of Lance.
