Job summary

SonderMind seeks a Staff Engineer to own end‑to‑end features across backend services, AI pipelines, and front‑end, collaborating with product, design, and QA. You’ll help shape our microservices architecture and mentor engineers in a fast‑paced, AI‑driven environment.

Strong backend skills in Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, Python and SQL are required, with a bias toward scalable systems and performance optimization. Prior ML knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building web services or full‑stack applications.
• Strong hands‑on experience in Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, Python or similar backends.
• Deep understanding of APIs, PostgreSQL, and performance tuning.
• Proven ability to balance short‑term delivery with long‑term technical investments.
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with strong collaboration.
• Knowledge of AI/ML is desirable but not required; LangChain experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Optimize database queries and overall service performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional squads to define requirements and deliver features.
• Lead architectural improvements and mentor junior engineers.
• Serve as a technical lead for complex projects with quality and risk balance.
