Job summary

SonderMind is seeking a Staff Engineer to own end-to-end features across backend services, AI pipelines, and front-end components within a GenAI-enabled stack. You’ll shape microservices architecture, tackle performance tuning, and collaborate closely with product, design, and QA in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll mentor juniors, lead complex projects, and work with evolving technologies such as Langchain/Langgraph.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building web services or full-stack apps.
• Strong hands-on experience in Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, Python or similar backends.
• Deep understanding of APIs, PostgreSQL, and performance tuning.
• Experience with AI/ML is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable Ruby/Rails, TS/Node, and Python services and APIs that integrate with GenAI systems.
• Optimize MongoDB and PostgreSQL queries and service performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional squads to define requirements and deliver features.
• Work on AI Agents, MCP servers and AI-enabled tools and frameworks.
• Identify and drive process, architecture, and toolchain improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers (code reviews, pair-programming).
• Serve as technical lead for complex projects, balancing scope, risk and quality.
