Job summary

SonderMind is hiring a Staff Engineer to own end-to-end backend features across services and AI pipelines. You’ll help shape a microservices architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, design, and QA in a fast-moving environment.

Experience with Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, Python and APIs is essential; familiarity with AI/ML tools is a plus. The role emphasizes performance, scalability, and delivering quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building web services or full-stack applications.
• Strong hands-on experience in Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, Python or similar backends.
• Deep understanding of APIs, PostgreSQL, and performance tuning.
• Proven ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term technical investments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable services and APIs.
• Optimize MongoDB and PostgreSQL queries and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional squads to define requirements and deliver features.
• Work with AI Agents, MCP servers and AI-enabled tools and frameworks.
