Job summary

Samsung Semiconductor seeks an experienced Staff Engineer to design end-to-end AI storage architectures for enterprise/DC environments in San Jose. You will align hardware and firmware with CXL, GPUDirect Storage, and NVMe, partnering with ASIC, firmware, and validation teams.

You will drive architectural innovation for AI workloads, disaggregation, and hyperscale storage, influencing industry standards and IP creation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years experience or Master’s with 8+ years or PhD with 5+ years.
10+ years experience in storage system architecture and AI/ML data pipelines.
Industry influence through architectural leadership or open-source contributions.
Experience satisfying OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD specs in HPC or GPU datacenters.
Deep knowledge of PCIe/NVMe, GPUDirect Storage, FDP, ZNS, NVMe-oF, CXL, SAS/SATA/SCSI.

Responsibilities

Define and model enterprise/DC SSD architectures optimized for AI data loaders and high-burst writes.
Translate hardware, CXL, and controller constraints into firmware architectures.
Architect hyperscaler AI infrastructure features aligned with Azure, Google Cloud, and Meta specs.
Collaborate with ASIC design, firmware, and validation teams to remove bottlenecks.
Develop architectural simulators or FPGA prototypes for next-gen storage features.
