Job summary

Gallup is seeking a Staff Engineer in Omaha to work directly with the head of engineering as a technical thought partner across a broad, cross-team initiative. You will mentor senior engineers, set standards for AI-enabled development, and collaborate with AI Infrastructure and Data Platform teams to modernize identity, access, and shared platforms while maintaining strong data-backed decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, required.
• Eight years of professional software engineering experience with staff-level impact, required.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and align multiple teams without direct management authority.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools in production.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and establishing shared technical standards.
• Strong system design and architecture fundamentals across stacks.
• Experience partnering with an engineering leader in advisory capacity, preferred.
• On-site at Gallup's Omaha office at least three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the head of engineering as a technical thought partner across initiatives.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance to managers, leads, and senior engineers on cross-team decisions.
• Introduce AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate work while preserving human judgment.
• Lead a community of practice for senior engineers and tech leads to raise standards.
• Identify and evaluate new tools and patterns; present actionable recommendations to leadership.
• Shape future work by championing data, instrumentation, and measurable outcomes.
• Contribute hands-on to critical initiatives from design to production.
• Translate high-level strategy into concrete guidance for teams.
