Job summary

GEICO seeks a Staff Engineer to shape multi-channel communications for claims, spanning letters, email, SMS, push, and fax. This senior, hands-on role emphasizes Java and cloud-native systems, with AI-assisted software development and scalable, production-grade platforms.

You will mentor engineers and collaborate with product, UX, and business partners to deliver reliable communications at scale.

Qualifications

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership.
Deep expertise in Java (17+) and Spring Boot 3.x.
Proven experience with AI-assisted development and AI tooling integration.
Strong microservices and cloud-native design proficiency.
Experience building scalable, secure, production-grade systems.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide technical architecture and leadership across projects spanning orchestration, channel delivery, and document platforms.
Architect, build, and deploy cloud systems with high scalability, resilience, and security.
Lead design of event-driven workflows and integration across services.
Build RESTful APIs and web applications with attention to reliability and observability.
Develop internal tools and mentor engineers across the team.
Establish playbooks for reliability, testing, deployment, and incident reviews.
