Job summary

GEICO is seeking an accomplished Staff Software Engineer with a strong track record in Java development and Spring Boot, focusing on microservice architectures. The role emphasizes AI-enabled features, generative AI, and mentoring engineers in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate will collaborate with Architects, Product Managers, and ML/Data Science teams to design scalable systems, drive technical roadmaps, and ensure high-quality, secure deployments across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional experience building scalable Java systems.
• Expertise in modern Java (preferably Java 21) and Spring Boot 3.4.x+.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI apps (RAG, MCP) and AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex).
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices with Java 21+ and Spring Boot 3.4.x+.
• Collaborate with architects and product managers on roadmaps and blueprints.
• Build and integrate AI-powered features focusing on Generative AI solutions.
• Work with ML/Data Science teams on AI models for cutting-edge use cases.
• Provide technical leadership and establish best practices for code quality, security, testing, and DevOps.
• Mentor engineers and foster an inclusive, learning-focused environment.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices and observability.
