Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead strategy and execution for modern DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and AI-augmented developer tooling. You will influence executives, mentor engineers, and drive secure, scalable architectures across the platform.

You will own roadmap, prototype new features, evaluate build vs buy choices, and champion intent-driven infrastructure while upholding stringent security and compliance standards across regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
• 7+ years in software engineering, cloud architecture or infrastructure engineering
• 5+ years building CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains
• 4+ years with Kubernetes/Docker in cloud-native environments (AWS/GCP/Azure)

Responsibilities

• Architect the long-term enterprise roadmap for modern DevOps and intent-driven cloud infrastructure
• Lead AI-assisted tooling integration and secure development tools
• Influence technical executives and stakeholders on ROI, risk, and funding
• Design and govern multi-tenant core-skills repositories and enterprise marketplaces
• Oversee scalable, secure microservices within regulatory boundaries
• Mentor senior engineers and foster an inclusive engineering culture
