Job summary

GenMD is hiring a backend engineer in the United States (Iowa) to design and ship agent-backed services for healthcare data. You will own the systems those agents run on, work with researchers and founders, and ensure audits, safety and cost controls.

We seek 3+ years in production backend work, strong Python or TypeScript, and experience with LLM apps and cloud data infrastructure (GCP/BigQuery). This fast-moving role includes equity and a strong ownership mindset.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building production backend systems.
• Hands-on experience shipping LLM applications or agents.
• Experience with cloud data infrastructure (GCP/BigQuery) and secure services.
• Ability to own end-to-end systems and move fast without lowering quality.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship agent infrastructure and services.
• Own orchestration, retries, tool calling and data access.
• Ship agents to production and improve with usage.
• Ensure auditable, permissioned and safe handling of healthcare data.
• Collaborate with founders, researchers and partners on agent scope.
