Position Summary

Position Summary
Under direct supervision, reviews land use applications, subdivisions, special use permits, map amendments, and permits and reviews how they affect the road, drainage, and stormwater systems; makes appropriate recommendations for denial or approval with conditions; performs engineering functions including but not limited to, preparation, implementation, analysis, and execution of engineering projects, systems, and functions.
What You Will Do
- Maintains, updates, and amends computer databases for road maintenance, road right-of-way, bridges, and land use information.
- Responds to public inquiries and complaints.
- Independently drives to job sites to review management plans, inspect, participate in audits, and issue permits.
- Reviews land use applications, subdivisions, special use permits, map amendments, and permits; reviews their relevance on how they affect the road, drainage, and stormwater systems.
- Calculates, collects, and tracks funds and assessed fees for public improvement; assists in writing, preparation, administration, and monitoring of grants.
- Evaluates and prepares written review documents and reports including recommendations for denial or approval of land use applications with conditions.
- Prepares written review documents and reports including but not limited to, recommending denial or approval of land use applications with conditions.
- Assists with review of stormwater management plans and issue stormwater permits.
- Financially responsible and accountable for cash handling, bookkeeping, accounting, and estimating; recommends developer contributions to public improvements; monitors financial security including but not limited to, letters of credit, bonds, escrows, and securing completion of improvement and approval to releasing of funds.
- Regularly monitors and updates the OpenGov permitting system; provides input on workflow.
- Stays abreast with trends in federal and state laws and regulations; develops new procedures and programs based on new regulations.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
What You Have
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree From an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a closely related engineering field required.
- 1 year or more Architectural Design, Engineering, Construction, or Project Management experience, including serving in a leadership role managing capital projects from conception to completion required.
PREFERRED EXPERIEINCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Minimum One (1) year or more Land Use Planning preferred.
- Engineer in Training (FE) obtained through the State of Colorado preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Must successfully pass background check
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid Colorado Driver’s License
