Job summary

Stack AV Co is seeking a Staff Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop and validate software for a safety‑critical embedded platform in autonomous trucking. You will interface with sensors, compute modules and the vehicle, ensuring deterministic, safe behavior.

You will lead architecture, mentor a small team, and drive on‑time delivery while aligning with safety guidelines and real‑world deployments.

Qualifications

• Expert in C++ for embedded, safety‑critical systems.
• Strong understanding of RTOS concepts and programming (e.g., FreeRTOS, SafeRTOS).
• Experience with safety‑critical standards such as ISO 26262, DO‑178C, IEC 61508, IEC 62304 or similar.
• Provide technical leadership in a small team.
• Hardware abstraction layer (HAL) and BSP development.
• Multithreaded and real‑time software design.
• Knowledge of CAN and Ethernet in automotive contexts.
• Has taken at least one product through to production with paying customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software architectures for real‑time vehicle platforms.
• Mentor and guide team members through code reviews and leadership.
• Ensure safety standards are applied with robust fault handling.
• Coordinate tasks to ensure on‑time delivery.
• Support vehicle testing and field deployments.
