Job summary

Qualifications

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Staff Electronics Engineer to join our team in Palmdale, CA. The candidate should be a self‑starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.

Essential Functions

• Oversee test automation strategies that connect unit, integration, qualification, and system test.
• Work within current budget for implementation and advise program management to acquire additional budget to achieve long‑term goals (start small, move to full CI/CD).
• Work in development, lab, and operational environments, ensuring integration and testing of complex system components are applicable to the appropriate setting.
• Perform integration and troubleshooting of electronics, avionics, and software components across multiple networks interfacing with customer SMEs; document and maintain integration documentation.
• Facilitate collaboration with software developers, system engineers, hardware engineers, and integration/test engineers to diagnose root causes during software installation, integration, acceptance testing, and operational events.
• Use in‑depth knowledge of the system to develop interim solutions to maintain operational capability while software or hardware changes are implemented.
• Develop and execute installation, integration, and acceptance test procedures.
• Apply familiarity with the full development life‑cycle processes acknowledging technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Develop clear and concise technical documentation.
• Submit problem reports for errors found.
• Assume a hybrid role across diverse assignments in a collaborative team setting.
• Support project management tasks associated with the Statement of Work, including work‑package management, budgeting, scheduling, and providing QBDs.
• Work full‑time, on‑site at the facility; no remote or hybrid telework available.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related engineering experience.
• Experience in integration and testing of software and hardware components in Unix and Windows environments.
• Ability to lead installation, integration, and acceptance testing.
• Ability to obtain a Security+ certification.
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance with background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR); must be obtained prior to employment and maintained within reasonable time.
• Candidate must be capable of obtaining upgraded SAP/PAR after selection.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
• Active DoD Top Secret SCI clearance with background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
• Excellent 2‑way communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of employees and management; ability to brief technical presentations to stakeholders.
• Familiarity with software network interfaces.
• Experience with automation of installation, configuration, and test.
• Experience with Agile methodologies; Agile Systems Engineering experience.
• Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills.
• Experience with Confluence and JIRA.
• Security+ certification.
• Experience with scripting languages (development, debugging, and maintenance).

Salary

Primary level salary range: $142,200.00 – $213,400.00.
