Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Aeronautical Engineer to join our Edwards AFB team. You will act as the technical authority for integration and verification, fuse HW/SW interfaces, and deliver data that informs design and program decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years experience, or a Master's with 10 years, or a Ph.D. with 8 years.
  • Must hold an active US Government Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance within a reasonable time as determined by business needs.
  • Transfer and maintain final adjudicated Top Secret clearance (in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access required.
  • Experience with test, test equipment use and troubleshooting; ability to create/update/executing test procedures.

Responsibilities

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Aeronautical Engineer to join the team of qualified individuals. Position is located in Edwards AFB, CA.

Be the technical authority for integration and verification, building lab architectures directly from requirements. Champion test readiness, fuse HW/SW interfaces, and deliver data that influences design and program decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required. Available to work odd shifts to include nights and weekends.

Basic Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 12 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master's degree AND 10 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Ph.D. AND 8 years of related professional/military experience.
  • Must have an active US Government Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Top Secret clearance (must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of test experience, to include running checklists, radio communications, and working in a control room hierarchy, and control room monitoring.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills
  • Experience in software/system integration, and software/system testing
  • Required to obtain engineering qualification and maintain currency with company and customer provided training requirements.
  • Experience with test, test equipment use and troubleshooting.
  • Experience creating, updating and executing test procedure
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Familiarization or experience with Confluence and JIRA
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Integrated Analysis & Data System (IADS)
  • In depth knowledge and experience of various aerospace vehicles and mechanical systems
  • Experience working in an integrated test environment with multiple stakeholders and partners
  • Experience working in a combined test force (CTF) environment
Primary Level Salary Range

$177,000.00 - $265,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.

Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
