Job description

Atlas Energy Solutions Inc. (NYSE: AESI) is a leading solutions provider to the energy industry. Atlas’ portfolio of offerings includes oilfield logistics, distributed power systems, and the largest proppant supply network in the Permian Basin. With a focus on leveraging technology, automation, and remote operations to enhance efficiencies, Atlas is centered around a core mission of improving human beings’ access to hydrocarbons that power our lives and, by doing so, maximizing value creation for our shareholders.

How You Will Make an Impact:

The Staff Electrical Superintendent carries two roles. It is the senior construction leader for electrical scope on Atlas power projects, providing oversight of electrical and mechanical contractors through installation, commissioning, and turnover. It is also the senior electrical leader supporting Atlas Field Operations, serving as the technical authority and escalation point for the operating fleet, setting electrical work practice and safety expectations in the field, and building the electrical capability of field personnel. This is a highly technical craft and construction leadership role rather than a design engineering role, though it supports the electrical engineering team with constructability input and field-driven design feedback.

Responsibilities
  • Provide construction oversight of electrical and mechanical contractors, including work planning, sequencing, quality, and adherence to issued-for-construction documents.
  • Serve as the senior electrical leader for Atlas Field Operations, providing technical authority, escalation support, and day to day guidance to field teams across the operating fleet.
  • Act as the electrical escalation point for operating sites, including outage support, repair planning, and resolution of recurring electrical failures after turnover.
  • Establish and reinforce electrical work practice, installation standards, and qualification expectations for Atlas field personnel and contract crews.
  • Develop field procedures, job aids, and troubleshooting guides that raise the electrical capability of Field Operations.
  • Train and coach field technicians and operations personnel on electrical systems, generation equipment, safe work practice, and diagnostic methods.
  • Partner with Field Operations leadership on staffing capability, tooling and test equipment needs, and readiness for new site startups.
  • Oversee installation of low and medium voltage power cabling, terminations, cable tray systems, conduit, and grounding systems for compliance with drawings, specifications, and NFPA 70 (NEC).
  • Verify cable sizing, routing, tray fill, bending radius, support, and separation in the field against the released design and raise discrepancies to engineering.
  • Oversee mechanical and piping installation scope where it interfaces with electrical systems, including engine, fuel, cooling, and exhaust piping.
  • Lead site commissioning, functional testing, and startup activities for generation and power distribution equipment.
  • Lead field troubleshooting and root cause resolution for electrical, generator, and controls issues during construction, commissioning, and early operation.
  • Oversee installation, alignment, interconnection, and startup support for engine-driven generation, including 22L Doosan engines and associated alternators.
  • Conduct installation quality inspections, punch list development, and closeout verification prior to turnover.
  • Enforce electrical safety practice on site, including energized work controls, lockout tagout, arc flash boundaries, and applicable NFPA 70E requirements.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, EPC partners, and utilities on installation sequencing, inspections, and interconnection activities.
  • Support the electrical design process with Atlas electrical engineers by providing constructability review, installation methods input, and field feedback on released designs.
  • Perform drafting and redlines on construction drawings as required, and drive as-built documentation back to engineering for incorporation.
  • Review contractor submittals, method statements, and installation plans for technical adequacy.
  • Support material take-offs, installation estimates, and schedule input for electrical scope.
  • Mentor field personnel and less experienced site staff on installation standards, commissioning practice, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Advise engineering and project leadership on field risk, installation constraints, and lessons learned that should change standards or designs.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An engineering degree is preferred. Equivalent directly related experience in electrical construction, installation, and commissioning will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10-15+ years of experience in electrical construction, installation, or commissioning of industrial or power generation systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership of electrical and mechanical contractors on active construction sites.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as an electrical technical authority to field operations or maintenance organizations, including escalation support and troubleshooting of operating equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with low and medium voltage power cabling installation, terminations, cable tray systems, and grounding installation.
  • Demonstrated experience with cable sizing and the ability to verify installed work against design documents.
  • Demonstrated experience with engine-driven generation, including engine and alternator installation, interconnection, and startup support.
  • Demonstrated experience leading commissioning, functional testing, and startup activities.
  • Proven capability in field troubleshooting and root cause resolution of electrical and generation system issues.
  • Working knowledge of piping installation as it interfaces with engine and power generation systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, and applicable installation and safety standards.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and redline construction drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with contractors, field crews, engineering, and project leadership.
