We’re hiring: Staff Electrical Engineer – Phased Array Unit Lead | Austin, TX

I’m looking to connect with experienced Electrical/RF Engineers with deep expertise in phased array antennas, RF electronics, and space hardware for a technical leadership opportunity in Austin.


This is a hands-on Unit Lead / Responsible Engineer position focused on developing Ka-band Active Electronically Steered Arrays (AESAs) for advanced spaceborne payloads.


You’ll take ownership of a complete phased array product, leading the technical team from architecture and design through integration, environmental qualification, production, and flight readiness.


What you’ll be responsible for:


  • Leading end-to-end development of Ka-band AESA / phased array systems

  • Owning architecture, design, prototyping, integration, test and flight readiness

  • Leading multidisciplinary teams across RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, software and systems engineering

  • Antenna and board-level RF electronics development

  • Payload control, command & telemetry and internal data interfaces

  • Active antenna testing, including EIRP and G/T measurements

  • Managing flight qualification including TVAC, vibration, shock and EMC

  • Requirements, ICDs, test plans, verification matrices and design reviews

  • Root cause analysis, anomaly resolution and technical risk mitigation

  • Transitioning hardware into scalable production

  • Acting as a key technical interface with customers, program leadership and spacecraft teams


What we’re looking for:


  • 8+ years of electronics hardware development experience

  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field

  • Hands-on experience with active phased array antennas

  • Deep expertise in antennas and board-level RF electronics

  • Experience testing active antennas, including EIRP and G/T

  • Strong understanding of power/digital support circuitry and DFM

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering, requirements flowdown and V&V

  • Excellent technical and customer-facing communication skills


Experience with Ka-band antenna design, flight qualification, radiation-tolerant electronics, NewSpace development, or previous Responsible Engineer / Technical Lead / IPT Lead / Chief Engineer responsibilities would be particularly valuable.
