Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer for a Roy, UT location. The role focuses on design, development, integration, and testing of advanced flight systems and hypersonic related electronics.

The candidate will lead teams, create block diagrams, perform simulations, and ensure EMI/EMC compliance while coordinating with suppliers and customers. Relocation may be available and a Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or higher in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience leading electrical engineering teams is required.
  • 5+ years of electrical design experience for mission/flight systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop functional block diagrams and schematic capture.
  • Perform electrical analysis and system architecture design across grounding, power, and interconnects.
  • Support PCB/layout choices, component selection, and supplier coordination.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT.

What You’ll Get To Do

The Flight Systems Futures team executes the design and development, procurement/manufacturing, and integration & test of novel flight systems across a broad spectrum of applications.

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Functional block diagram, Visio preferred
  • Schematic capture, Altium preferred
  • PSPICE electrical simulation
  • Electrical requirements development, assisting system engineers
  • Electrical analysis for compliance with requirements
  • Electrical interface control document generation
  • Electrical system architecture design, including grounding, power distribution, communication busses and discrete signaling
  • Electrical component selection
  • Electrical subsystem selection
  • Analog circuit design
Basic Qualifications
  • T05: 12 Years with Bachelors in Science; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD.
  • Must have 2+ years of experience leading Electrical Engineering and/or technical teams
  • Must have 5+ years electrical design experience for hypersonic systems, flight systems, missiles, etc.
  • Must have an active or current Secret clearance at time of application
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with FPGA
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical hardware
  • Experience presenting complex technical programs and concepts to non-technical personnel and customers
  • Experience with CEM modeling tools such as HFSS
  • Cable design and testing
  • Engineering for EMI/EMC/ESD compliance, Mil-Std-464
  • Responsible engineer (RE) for electronics subsystems
  • Manage 3rd party contractors and vendors

This position is contingent upon contract award.

The position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
