This position is located in Huntsville, AL.
RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance may be available. CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: Yes. CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret. TRAVEL: Yes, 25% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Support design of complex electrical systems, ensuring compliance with weapon-system requirements, MIL-STD, UFC, and applicable codes.
- Oversee evaluation of vendor documentation, data sheets, and technical proposals for compliance and suitability.
- Direct creation and management of Electrical Technical Data Packages, Issue-for-Construction, as-built documentation, and interface models while maintaining configuration control.
- Conduct advanced electrical analyses, trade studies, and short-circuit/arc-flash calculations using tools such as ETAP, SKM PTW32, MATLAB, or ANSYS.
- Ensure proper application and interpretation of electrical codes, standards, and hazard-area classifications throughout the design lifecycle.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks; develop and present design-change proposals and manage baseline configuration.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineering team members, promoting best practices and continuous-process improvement.
- Serve as primary liaison with external customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams, representing the organization in technical reviews.
- Integrate electrical designs with propulsion, guidance, and weapon-system interfaces to support system-level integration and testing.
- Lead adoption of Agile and model-based engineering practices, including Teamcenter/CPLM, to improve design efficiency and traceability.
- Prototype and analyze using analytical and finite element modeling (FEM/FEA) tools for structural and thermal analysis.
- Apply electrical design, electronics manufacturing processes, and hardware qualification (e.g., PCB, cable harness).
- Perform environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock) of electronic components and subsystems.
- Utilize Systems Engineering tools (CAMEO/DOORS) and architecture knowledge.
- Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX; proficient with PDM and/or CPLM.
- Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009.
- Collaborate with specialty engineering stakeholders (PM&P, Safety, Human Factors, others).
- Experience leading a team of engineers or managing projects.
- Hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, fabrication, assembly, and measuring tools.
- Strong verbal and written communications; ability to read and understand technical requirements documents.
- Experience in coding and translating analysis results into design implementations; proven track record with external customers to meet program expectations on schedule.
- Experience with maintenance and reliability engineering.
- Proficiency with simulation and analysis tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, or equivalents; experience using Teamcenter/CPLM.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices.
- Knowledge of various data-transmission formats (e.g., Serial, TCP/IP, Fiber).
- Understanding of RF discrimination techniques.
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree; 4 years of experience with a PhD.
- U.S. Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years. Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret SAP approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
- Demonstrated experience performing advanced CAD modeling and analysis using Siemens NX (or equivalent) on aerospace and defense hardware projects.
- Experience with systems engineering tools such as CAMEO/DOORS and applying MBSE practices to complex weapon-system development.
- Hands-on experience with a network analyzer.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and engineering scheduling tools or applications.
- Familiarity with CAD/EM tools such as Mentor Graphics Capital/Xpedition, HFSS, CST, or equivalents.
- Ability to review engineering specifications, schematics, and drawings and translate customer-driven requirements into clear specifications.
- Experience resolving issues and providing technical support.
- Experience with maintenance and reliability engineering.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in ICBMs Electrical design in CAD such as NX/Revi.
- Experience in coding and translating analysis to design.
- Experience working with external customers to meet program expectations in a timely and efficient manner.

Salary and eligibility
- Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 – $163,200.00. The range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
- Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may be applicable; annual bonuses may be awarded for individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director roles may be eligible for Long-Term Incentives.
