Job description

Staff Electrical Engineer Novax Recruitment Group California, United States (On-site)

The Company

This organization is delivering large-scale industrial and advanced manufacturing facilities focused on next-generation materials production and complex process-driven manufacturing.

Backed by significant long-term investment and a rapidly expanding project portfolio, the business continues to scale engineering, construction, and operational capabilities across multiple locations.

The projects combine complex industrial processes, hazardous occupancies, utility infrastructure, advanced manufacturing environments, warehousing, and mission-critical operations-creating engineering challenges rarely found within traditional commercial construction.

Why This Role Exists

The company isn't replacing someone.

They're growing.

Project volume continues to increase, facility designs are becoming more sophisticated, and leadership has made a strategic decision to further strengthen internal engineering capability.

This role will become a key technical voice within the organization, helping lead electrical design across multiple major capital projects while influencing standards, quality, and engineering execution for years to come.

The Opportunity

You’ll lead the electrical design of complex industrial and manufacturing facilities where reliability, safety, and performance are critical.

You’ll work alongside construction managers, project executives, process engineers, operations teams, and external partners to bring major projects from concept through energization.

You’ll have ownership, influence, and the opportunity to see your designs become operational facilities rather than simply completed drawing packages.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Leading electrical engineering design across large-scale industrial developments
  • Designing medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems up to 34.5kV
  • Developing construction documents, calculations, specifications, and technical deliverables
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary engineering efforts from early design through IFC issuance
  • Supporting field construction, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical issue resolution
  • Providing technical leadership, QA/QC oversight, and mentorship across the engineering team
What They're Looking For
Must Have
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Active California PE License (or ability to obtain California reciprocity)
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience within industrial, manufacturing, EPC, process plant, energy, or heavy commercial sectors
  • Strong expertise in NEC, NFPA, power systems, and electrical design standards
  • Experience performing short circuit studies, arc flash analysis, and protective device coordination
  • Advanced proficiency with SKM or ETAP
  • Experience with Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam
Preferred
  • Advanced manufacturing or industrial processing facility experience
  • Energy infrastructure, utility, renewable energy, or large-scale industrial project exposure
  • Construction administration and commissioning experience
  • Cable tray, raceway, lighting, and power system optimization expertise
Why Engineers Leave For Opportunities Like This

Because there comes a point where another conventional project isn't enough.

You want larger challenges.

You want greater technical influence.

You want your work attached to facilities that genuinely matter.

This opportunity offers:
  • Exposure to some of the most complex industrial projects currently being delivered
  • Significant project ownership and engineering autonomy
  • Direct interaction with senior leadership and decision makers
  • A highly funded business with a long-term project pipeline
  • The ability to influence projects from concept design through operational start up
  • Long-term career growth within an organization investing heavily in people, infrastructure, and future expansion
