Job summary

LiveKit is hiring a Staff Engineer to work on core services, telephony, and observability. You’ll influence latency, availability, and operational simplicity as a core layer of the platform. The team values prototype-to-production ownership, fast iteration, and clear communication.

You will tackle distributed systems challenges across identity, scheduling, observability, and state management using Go, gRPC, Raft, and Kubernetes. Join a small, senior team building at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience designing distributed systems in production
• Ownership of prototypes to production monitoring and iteration
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Strong fundamentals in performance, data flow, state and correctness

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve core control, data, and observability systems powering LiveKit Cloud
• Implement resilient region-spanning architectures that degrade gracefully
• Build libraries, protocols, and tooling to raise reliability and developer velocity
• Diagnose and harden critical paths using metrics, tracing, testing and real traffic insights
• Shape platform capabilities across identity, scheduling, observability, and distributed state management
