Job summary

IonQ is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer in Santa Clara, CA to join the Quantum Platform Network Security Engineering Team. You will lead the software factory end-to-end—from code commit to production—ensuring security is embedded at every stage, while actively shaping architecture, tooling, and release processes across cloud-managed SaaS and on-prem components.

This hybrid role requires deep hands-on expertise in CI/CD, IaC, and security, with mentorship responsibilities to elevate the team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of production engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines at scale.
• Security embedded into pipelines with practical remediation.
• IaC authored and tested with production modules.
• Ownership of release, dependency, or vulnerability-management outcomes.
• Scripting and automation with focus on removing manual toil.

Responsibilities

• Set the software-factory roadmap and architecture decisions.
• Embed scanning and policy enforcement into every pipeline stage.
• Operate the release train and expedited hotfix pipeline.
• Automate dependency updates and SBOM generation.
• Deliver self-service capabilities via an internal developer platform.
• Write and test production IaC modules with policy-as-code.
• Run vulnerability scanning and continuous compliance evidence.
• Operate agentic workflows for pipeline triage and orchestration.
• Mentor engineers and align teams with the roadmap.
