Job summary

Amberwoods of Farmington is seeking an experienced Staff Development Coordinator to join our team in Farmington, CT. This role requires an active CT RN license and a proven ability to guide education and clinical support for our nursing staff.

The position offers a 20-hour flexible schedule with an emphasis on orientation, in-service training, competency evaluation, and ongoing professional development to ensure safe, high-quality resident care.

Qualifications

  • Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Knowledge of CMS and state regulations to promote best practices in education and training.
  • At least 2 years of clinical managerial nursing experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with nursing personnel in health care settings.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with EMR systems.
  • Strong team leadership and motivational abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work hours as needed.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse clientele and workforce with sound decisions and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct orientation and mandatory in-service programs per regulatory requirements.
  • Provide continuing education to improve critical thinking, interpersonal and technical skills.
  • Perform competency assessments to evaluate safety training in the workplace.
  • Evaluate competencies and determine needed training, support, and resources.
  • Determine and assess facility educational needs.
  • Monitor transition from orientation to ensure quality resident care with the facility's objectives.
  • Support and coach staff through knowledge, skills, and encouragement.
  • Apply teaching strategies that foster critical thinking and teamwork in resident care.
  • Communicate concerns with the Administrator/DNS.
  • Foster optimal employee relations to motivate and retain staff.

Amberwoods is a 130-bed newly renovated, progressive facility providing long-term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation and Memory Care services, located in Farmington, CT. Our facility is conveniently located within proximity to I-84 and is a ten-minute drive to downtown Hartford.

The role of the Director of Staff Development is critical to the success of our employees. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with the ability to engage and inspire our employees to excel in providing safe and effective quality care. Candidate must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut with previous experience in the provision of educational guidance and clinical support in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License

  • Ability to work flexible hours, when necessary
