University Health & Rehabilitation in Durham, NC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as Staff Development Coordinator and Infection Preventionist. This clinical leadership role focuses on developing people, improving practice, and maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff.

You will lead staff education, competency development, and oversee the center’s Infection Prevention and Control Program.

Qualifications

  • Active, unencumbered RN license in North Carolina.
  • Infection prevention, staff development, clinical education, or skilled nursing experience preferred.
  • Infection Control Practitioner Certification (CIC) preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to complete specialized infection prevention training as required.
  • Strong clinical judgment, organization, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to coach and educate others while maintaining accountability for clinical standards.
  • Comfortable working independently, analyzing data, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and electronic education/documentation platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate new employee orientation and ongoing clinical education.

  • Conduct infection prevention rounds, audits, surveillance, and data trending.
  • Identify infection-control risks and implement education and corrective action.
  • Coordinate transmission-based precautions and communicate findings with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Oversee vaccination and tuberculosis programs for residents and employees.
  • Coordinate Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities related to infection prevention and education.

University Health & Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Staff Development Coordinator / Infection Preventionist.

This clinical leadership role is ideal for an RN who is passionate about developing people, improving clinical practice, and creating a safe environment where residents and employees can thrive. You will lead staff education and competency development while overseeing the center’s Infection Prevention and Control Program.

What You'll Do

Staff Development & Education

  • Coordinate new employee orientation and ongoing clinical education.

What We're Looking For

Physical Requirements

This position includes a combination of administrative and hands‑on clinical responsibilities and requires regular walking, standing, bending, reaching, and other physical activity throughout the facility.
