Job summary

Vetcove Inc. is seeking a Staff Engineer to help build a faster, AI-powered engineering organization.

This is a hands-on, remote role that will own tools, infrastructure, and workflows enabling engineers to ship faster and with less friction across the company. You’ll work with leadership and teams to experiment with the latest coding agents, adopt new developer tools, and rethink how we work in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with coding agents and AI-powered workflows.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and production systems.
• Experience improving CI/CD, testing infra, or internal tooling to boost developer productivity.
• Familiarity with Python/Django and React/TypeScript stack and related infra.

Responsibilities

• Build the development workflow you’d want to join a company to use.

• Make CI and deployments fly. Own the path from code change to production and relentlessly cut slow tests, flaky builds, manual steps, and unnecessary waiting.
• Turn repetitive engineering work into automations. Build agents and workflows for triage, code review, testing, documentation, releases, and whatever else should stop eating engineering time.
• Give everyone at Vetcove the power to build. Set up the connections, infrastructure, and deployment paths that let non‑engineering teams create and maintain their own apps and automations.
• Find and introduce tools that change how we work. Experiment with new models, coding agents, and developer infrastructure, bring the best into Vetcove, and own the rollout so the whole team benefits.
• Make the fastest path a reliable one. Build testing, permissions, sandboxing, and observability into our workflows so people and agents can move quickly with confidence.
• Get the team building differently. Work alongside engineers, share what’s working, and make better ways of building easy to adopt.
• Own the impact. Find the biggest bottlenecks across our team, remove them, and measure whether we’re shipping faster with less friction.

Developer Experience Engineer (Staff Level)

Vetcove is seeking a Staff Engineer to help us build 10x faster. AI is changing how software gets built, and we want someone who sees the opportunity and can make it real across Vetcove. You’ll own the tools, infrastructure, and workflows that let our engineers ship faster and give teams across the company the power to build.

You should be someone who is already experimenting with the latest coding agents, trying new developer tools, and constantly thinking, “Why are we still doing this manually?” This is a hands‑on role with room to experiment, introduce new tools, and rethink how we work.

You’ll work directly with our engineering leadership and teams across the business. We operate in a fully remote environment, giving you the flexibility to do your best work while staying deeply connected to a fast-moving, highly collaborative team.

What you’ll do

You should have

• A deep conviction that AI is changing software engineering, backed by hands‑on experience using coding agents and building AI‑powered workflows.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing, shipping, and operating production systems.

• Experience improving CI/CD, testing infrastructure, development environments, or internal tooling, with a track record of making other engineers more productive.

• Familiarity with agent SDKs, agent harnesses, tool integrations, and the infrastructure agents need to work effectively on real codebases.

• The technical judgment to know when to buy a tool, when to build something ourselves, and when a simpler solution will get us further.

• The ability to take an ambiguous problem, set a technical direction, and carry it through implementation and adoption.

• Comfort working across our Python/Django and React/TypeScript stack, as well as the infrastructure that supports it.

• A collaborative, hands‑on approach. You enjoy pairing with teammates, understanding where they get stuck, and building things they want to use.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is: $170,000/year - $230,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations. For Colorado, the salary range is: $190,000 - $210,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. This salary range is a good faith estimate of what Vetcove may pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, qualifications, and experience. The range reflects the base hourly rate or annual compensation (as applicable), and does not include bonus, equity or other incentives.
