As a Staff Detector Scientist specializing in PET Electronics, you will lead the research, development, and implementation of advanced detectors and electronics technologies for next-generation Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging systems.
This position combines deep expertise in detector physics, analog and digital electronics, signal processing, and system architecture with hands‑on hardware development and experimental validation.
You will play a key technical leadership role in advancing innovative detector solutions from early‑stage research and feasibility studies through prototyping, system integration, and commercial product realization.
This is a hands‑on, individual contributor research and development position. Active laboratory work, including experimental setup, hardware prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and validation, is an essential part of the role. While the position involves technical leadership, it does not include direct people management or formal project management responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Leading the research, design, and development of advanced PET detector electronics and hardware technologies to support next‑generation molecular imaging systems.
- Developing innovative detector readout architectures, including analog front‑end electronics, ASIC interfaces, FPGA‑based processing, high‑speed data acquisition, and digital electronics.
- Designing, building, testing, and validating electronic hardware solutions through schematic development, PCB design, prototyping, debugging, and performance characterization.
- Conducting feasibility studies, simulations, and experimental investigations to evaluate emerging detector and electronics technologies.
- Analyzing detector and electronics performance, identifying technical limitations, and implementing improvements to enhance system functionality, reliability, and imaging performance.
- Supporting system‑level architecture development and integrating detector electronics with sensors, data acquisition systems, and PET imaging platforms.
- Leading the transition of innovative detector and electronics technologies from research concepts into commercially viable product solutions.
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams across R&D, systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and product management throughout the product lifecycle.
- Partnering with technology suppliers, academic institutions, and research collaborators to evaluate emerging technologies and support the PET detector technology roadmap.
- Driving technical innovation through invention disclosures, patents, scientific publications, and other intellectual property contributions.
- Providing technical guidance and subject matter expertise to multidisciplinary engineering and scientific teams
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- Strong knowledge of PET detector technologies, radiation detection principles, detector physics, and electronic readout systems.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with analog and digital circuit design, low‑noise electronics, signal processing, and high‑speed data acquisition.
- Experience developing detector electronics involving ASICs, FPGAs, microcontrollers, and embedded systems.
- Practical experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, electronic hardware prototyping, circuit debugging, and laboratory validation.
- Understanding of detector performance characteristics, including timing resolution, energy resolution, sensitivity, count‑rate performance, and image quality.
- Experience using scientific programming and embedded development tools such as Python, C/C++, and FPGA development environments.
- Ability to analyze complex experimental data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and translate research findings into practical engineering solutions.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary development teams, external suppliers, academic institutions, and research partners.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to independently drive technical initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related experimental science or engineering discipline.
- Approximately 5-10 years of relevant research and development experience, including demonstrated hands‑on development of PET detector electronics in an academic or industry setting.
- Demonstrated experience developing electronics for PET detector systems, gained through academic research or industry R&D.
- Hands‑on experience with analog and digital circuit design, including schematic cap
