Cognichip is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to advance a VS Code–based IDE designed for semiconductor design engineers. You will build and extend Electron-based features, integrate AI-enabled tooling, and enable collaborative editing and advanced visualizations within a high-performance desktop environment.

Leverage your 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in desktop app development, to ship robust, cross-platform tooling on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in desktop app development (Electron, VS Code extensions, or similar IDE frameworks).
• Experience building VS Code extensions or plugin-based IDE architectures.
• Strong state management knowledge (Redux, Zustand) and component-driven UI.
• Cross-platform desktop app design for Windows, macOS, Linux.

Responsabilités

• Design, implement, and maintain VS Code extensions and Electron-based IDE features.
• Develop AI-assisted coding, linting, collaborative editing, syntax highlighting, and domain-specific visualizations.
• Integrate the IDE with backend microservices and APIs for distributed environments.
• Build and optimize cross-platform desktop experiences for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• Collaborate with designers to deliver polished UI/UX patterns inside the IDE.
• Contribute to performance profiling, debugging, and optimization for a responsive user experience.
