A full-time or part-time, exempt position responsible for providing preventive and primary dental care consistent with the dentist's training and experience in a community health center setting to patients of the center.

Essential Functions:
- Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses dental conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
- Records patient-dentist transactions in the patient's dental record to accurately reflect the contact, patient condition, and care provided. Completes patient referrals and other required documentation.
- Educates individuals about health-related conditions and promotes oral health and disease prevention.
- Assists in continuing education, on-the-job training, and orientation of community health center staff as requested.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Dental Director to achieve organizational goals and program objectives.
- Maintains and updates professional skills through continuing education and educational materials.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and center rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures related to dentistry, workplace safety, public health, confidentiality, and personnel issues.

- Participates and cooperates with SCHS' compliance program.
- Adheres to dress code standards; maintains a neat and clean appearance.
- Meets all regulatory requirements.
- Completes annual educational requirements.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled; maintains excellent attendance.
- Wears identification when on duty; uses the computerized punch time system correctly.
- Completes required off-site in-services and returns promptly.
- Attends annual reviews, departmental in-services, and scheduled staff meetings; reviews and returns all meeting minutes.
- Represents the organization professionally and positively.
- Complies with all organizational policies on ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility effectively.
Requirements
Skills & Abilities
Education: Graduation from an accredited dental school.
Licensure / Certification / Experience:
- Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Louisiana.
- Current CPR certification.
- Louisiana CDS and DEA registration required.
Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). EMR experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Project orientation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
Salary: $55 - $80 per hour.
