Job summary

StratusGrid LLC is hiring a Staff+ software engineer to design and build the Stratusphere data-optimization platform. You will own architecture across data systems, drive AI-enabled product features, and partner with engineers, FDEs, and customers to deliver high-impact solutions.

The role is remote, US-based, with quarterly travel to our Chattanooga HQ and ongoing collaboration with cloud, analytics, and product teams.

Qualifications

• Staff-level ownership of architecture and implementation for complex production systems.
• Proven optimization results using profiling, query plans, and observability.
• Deep relational database expertise plus expertise in at least one analytical/search/NoSQL platform.
• Hands-on familiarity with Iceberg and distributed query engines (Athena/Starburst/Trino).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and backend service development.
• Experience with testing, CI/CD, and scalable deployment.
• Strong observability: metrics, logs, traces, diagnostics.
• Cloud infrastructure experience and IaC practices.
• Ability to leverage AI agents for analysis, planning, and implementation.
• Excellent communication translating complex findings to business decisions.
• Startup environment adaptability with pragmatic decision-making and incremental delivery.
• Strong ownership, urgency, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Drive architecture, interfaces, and standards for data optimization products across clouds.
• Lead technical design for new features and communicate tradeoffs.
• Develop agent-first product features with production code and customer integrations.
• Diagnose bottlenecks in queries, schemas, and data layout to optimize performance and cost.
• Collaborate with FDEs, Product, and customers to validate improvements and roadmap priorities.
• Ensure secure, tested, and auditable AI-assisted plans and code.
