Job summary

Tilt is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join our Methodologies group, focusing on foundational modeling with deep learning, embeddings, and transformers to enhance credit modeling.

You'll collaborate with a small team of data scientists and engineers to translate complex ideas into practical ML solutions, explore agentic tools, and mentor others while aligning research with measurable business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience applying ML to real-world problems, preferably in financial services.
• Strong ability to translate complex ideas into practical ML solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test modeling approaches using deep learning architectures such as transformers and embeddings.
• Integrate frameworks into Tilt’s ML pipelines to improve credit modeling and risk assessment.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product partners to operationalize research.
• Experiment with representation learning and agentic tools to accelerate iteration.
• Share findings and mentor teammates to grow team capabilities.
