Job summary

Tilt, a global fintech innovator, is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to join the Methodologies group. You will build and test deep learning models on financial data, advancing foundational modeling approaches and integrating results into Tilt's ML pipelines to better assess credit risk and customer behavior.

You will work with a small, senior team of data scientists and engineers, exploring new methodologies, agents, and tools to accelerate experimentation while ensuring practical business impact

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and training deep learning models.
• Comfort working with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar).
• Experience applying ML to real-world problems, ideally in financial services (credit, lending, payments, or banking).
• Experience taking a project from an open question to a measurable business outcome.
• Clear, thoughtful communication — you can explain technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
• Bonus: experience with LLMs or agent frameworks; enthusiasm to learn and apply.

Responsibilities

• Build, train and evaluate deep learning models on Tilt's financial data.
• Ship models and components that plug into Tilt's ML pipelines to improve credit modeling.
• Own projects end to end from hypothesis to an in-use model with guidance from leads.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers and product partners to translate results into practical solutions.
• Run representation learning experiments, including pretraining and fine-tuning on real data.
• Share findings and help peers adopt new deep learning methods.
• Measure impact beyond accuracy by improving outcomes for Tilt's customers and partners.
• Use agentic development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) to speed up experimentation and feature engineering.
• Build and improve specialized agents that support DS workflows.
